Skin type and choosing a brow technique
Atelier Regard practical guide · Updated
Skin plays a big part in how semi-permanent brows heal. This guide explains the general considerations. It is not a diagnosis: only an in-person assessment can tell what suits your skin.
Why skin matters
Healed results vary from person to person. Oily skin, sun exposure, skincare and how your skin holds pigment all influence how crisp strokes stay and how long colour lasts.
General tendencies
Hair-like strokes (microblading) aim for the most natural texture. Some clients are better suited to powder or combo brows than to strokes alone, and shading also fades differently on every skin. These are tendencies, not rules.
| If you want | Often discussed |
|---|---|
| Visible hair-like texture | Microblading |
| A soft, filled, pencil-like finish | Ombré powder brows |
| Texture at the front, fuller body | Combo brows |
| No pigment, styling your own hair | Brow lamination + tint |
Existing brow hair
If you have plenty of hair, lamination may be enough. If you have gaps or very little hair, pigment-based techniques are usually discussed. Blonde or very light brows can be kept soft.
